The Sullivan Center Renovations

The Sullivan Center, formerly known as the Carson Pirie Scott Building, is comprised of nine structures built between 1875 and 1961. The building was designated an historic landmark in 1970 and is considered to be one of the most significant structures in early modern architecture. A multi-year restoration project was needed in order to keep the building competitive with its new tenants, most recently, The City Target prototype.

In 2002, K2N CREST began serving as a general consultant and structural engineer for the restoration of the Carson Pirie Scott Building in Chicago, IL. We have provided numerous investigations, construction documents and bidding/construction administration services for The Sullivan Center projects in the last decade. K2N’s work includes the design of new stairwells, mechanical equipment and support framing, strengthening of existing floors and historical stair cases, removal of existing escalators and installation of new escalators and elevators and loading docks.
